The Lira City Alights Club, organizers of the Lira Corporates Gala, will host an award dinner on December 13 to celebrate the conclusion of their 2024 season three. The gala, coordinated by Lukumu Zainabu aka Queen, has brought together companies across Lira for joint marketing, socializing, and community outreach since February.

“We’re thrilled with the success of this year’s gala,” said Queen. “Despite challenges in attendance, with 30 out of over 100 companies in Lira joining, our event continues to grow.” The gala, which started with 16 teams in its first edition, saw an increase to 22 participating teams in 2024, a sign of growing interest and community engagement.
The 2024 edition has featured numerous activities, including sports, games, and medical camps. Notably, JCRC (Joint Clinical Research Centre) has provided critical health services, including HIV testing, Hepatitis B screening, and circumcisions, using the Shang Ring method. “We’ve managed to help young people, reaching around 135 clients,” said Okot Jino, JCRC’s team leader.

Guinness UBL, the event’s primary sponsor, has leveraged the gala to connect with consumers, introducing popular brands like Bell Citrus and Uganda Waragi’s new lemon and ginger variant. Maurice Chwa, trade marketing representative for UBL, expressed hope for continued partnership in the upcoming season.
Deejay Val: “It feels great to have an event like this that brings people together socially and helps us build connections with friends and businesses alike. The growth and improvement have been tremendous.”
Aggrey, Manager of Space Lounge: “I would encourage the organizers to make the event even more corporate-focused in the future, allowing only corporate participants to join.”
The award dinner will recognize the best-performing teams with trophies, accolades, and certificates, celebrating the achievements of all participants as the venue will be announced soon.
The event will feature food, drinks, and entertainment, promising an evening of celebration and networking. With anticipation for the fourth edition in 2025, organizers hope to attract even more companies and foster a stronger corporate community in Lira.
