West Nile Province have gone down the books of history as the maiden winners of the FUFA Drum tournament 2022 regardless of the fans threat at Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium.
They edged Lango Province 3:1 on aggregate in the two legged final to win the third edition of the inter- province championship of 16 Provinces.
Holding a 2-0 advantage as they head into the return leg on Sunday at Akii Bua memorial stadium-Lira City, West Nile put up a resilient performance in the second halves of the return leg to emerge winners.
It was a taugh game at Akii-Bua for WestNile in the first 45 mins as the home team, Lango Province dominates the scores 2:0 in the first half of the the game.
The 11th mins goal by Dickens Okwir give Lango Province more confidence and determinations to win the game.
Joakim Ojera too also had the chance to place the ball behind the nets in the 37 mins of the first half putting lango penalty shoots possibility if the scores stands after the 90 minutes.
Despite the half-time scores, West Nile Province players and fans still couldnt give up where they return for the next half of the game more determined to ferry the trophy across the Nile River.
Lango Province who were backed with support from thousands of fans started the better side but the visitors too had to utilise their chance in the second half.
The 46th minutes by Rashid Toha places the White Rhinos in the safer sign awaiting for celebrations changing the scores to 2:1.
The home side got the much desired lead after several attempts but the white Rhinos remained composed in the last minutes of the game making them the champions of the FUFA Drum 2022 with the aggregate scores of [Lango 2:3 West Nile]
