Stanbic Bank Lira branch has contributed UGX 10 million towards the upcoming coronation of the Wonyaci elect Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, scheduled for November 2, 2024.

The contribution was presented by Ben Olwol, Branch Manager of Stanbic Bank Lira, who emphasized the institution’s commitment to supporting the growth and cultural heritage of the Lango community.
“Culture in itself is a foundation for everything,” stated Olwol. “For Stanbic Bank, supporting the growth of the Lango sub-region aligns with our purpose. Africa is our home, and we drive her growth. In this case, Lango sub-region is our home, and we are here to support its growth.”
He expressed confidence that the bank’s contribution would strengthen the cultural foundation for future generations and handed over the dummy check of UGX 10million donation to the finance committee in charge of the coronation preparations.
Bosco Ogwang Edola, Chair of Finance for the Local Organizing Committee, extended the Lango Cultural Institution’s gratitude to Stanbic Bank, acknowledging its longstanding support for the region.
“This UGX 10 million is a big push towards the coronation. Stanbic Bank has always been with us, not only for this cause but has consistently supported the region in various capacities, from loans to financial services,” Edola noted, calling the gesture a further demonstration of cooperation and commitment to the people of Lango.
As a token of appreciation, the committee also presented Stanbic Bank with an invitation to the coronation, extending a special welcome for senior management to attend the ceremony.
The coronation of Wonyaci elect Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune on November 2, 2024, under the Lango Cultural Institution at Lira mayor’s garden.
The event will bring together dignitaries, cultural kings, community leaders, and members of the Lango Cultural Institution to honor and uphold the region’s traditions.
