The Lango Cultural Institution is aiming to raise over 2.8 billion Ugandan shillings to fund the installation and coronation of the newly elected Paramount Chief, Dr. Eng. Michael Moses Odongo Okune. The coronation is planned for November 2, 2024.

The committee on Friday 26 April 2024, presented a budget of over 2.8 billion shillings to the cultural leaders and called for support from the Lango community, government, and corporates, stressing the need for unity and conflict resolution.
Lango Parliamentary Group Chairperson and Kole District Woman MP, Judith Alyek, also highlighted the importance of unity and support for the coronation. She expressed her satisfaction with the election of the new Lango Paramount Chief, stating that it has brought peace to the institution.

Dr. Eng. Michael Moses Odongo Okune was elected Paramount Chief on March 1, 2024, by 1,600 delegates from over 130 clans. He will succeed Mzee Yosam Odur Ebii, who will retire in November after leading for over 20 years.
The coronation marks the first installation of a Lango leader since the restoration of cultural leadership in Uganda.
Geoffery Ocen, Clan Leader for Bako Obuk, emphasized the positive impact of unity and encouraged support for the coronation, as it sets a precedent for future generations in the region.
