Lira Diocese has established a six-member commission to enhance its communication efforts. The team was inaugurated during a prayer service at the Ordination Ground with the approval of Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok.
The Diocesan Communications Secretary, Rev. Fr. Isaac Ojok, introduced the members, who were sworn in by Monsignor Valente Innocent Opio, the Vicar General. The commission includes Bongo Jimmy, Ms. Ebong Doreen, Bonny Otim Ogwal, Nancy Atim Lapul, Ocen Brian, and Sister Sylvia Atim, with Fr. Ojok serving as secretary.
Monsignor Valente urged the team to promote the Church’s mission through clear and compassionate communication. Highlighting the theme for next year’s World Communications Day, “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts,” he emphasized the need for integrity and unity in their messaging.
Mr. Felix Dolly Ayo, chairperson of the event’s organizing committee, called for increased financial support to address challenges faced by the communication department. Fr. Ojok outlined plans for collaboration with local businesses and announced a future fundraising event to strengthen communication initiatives.
Fr. Lawrence Ogwang, Station Manager of Radio Wa, emphasized the importance of the Diocese’s media platforms, including Uganda Catholic Television, Radio Wa, and online content, in fostering peace and unity.
The event concluded with a fundraising drive, raising over Shs 3 million to support communication efforts. Lira Diocese remains committed to enhancing its media presence and promoting Catholic values across the region.
