Respected Political Leaders in Lango Acknowledge Late Ogwal Achonga’s Legacy

Political leaders have expressed their admiration for the late Lira City West Division Mayor, Micheál Ogwal Achonga impactful legacy who recently passed away.

The late Achonga, who succumbed to cancer on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at around 11:15 PM at Cancer Institute Mulago National Referral Hospital was not just a mayor but also a respected clan head of Pedi Cung Kal.

The late Achonga was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Ngetta, Lira City East Division on Friday, 20th October, 2023. As Lira mourns the loss, the overwhelming support and recognition of his contributions serve as a testament to the enduring influence he wielded and the lives he touched.

The Uganda Peoples` Congress [UPC] party president, Hon. Akena Jimmy Michael, also the Member of Parliament for Lira City East Division, fondly remembered Achonga’s courageous leadership.

Akena attributed the recent successes of the party to the strategic initiatives put forth by the late Mayor. He emphasized how Achonga’s efforts had substantially reinforced UPC’s influence throughout the Lango sub-region.

MP Obong Vincent Shedrick of Lira City West Division, reflecting on Achonga’s profound impact, described him as a “political bulldozer” whose influence resonated far and wide. Shedrick acknowledged how Achonga’s guidance had been instrumental in shaping his own political journey.
