Minister Warned UTC Principles Against Used Of Institution’s Facilities For Personal Gains Rather than Learning.

The State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Muyingo has cautioned leaders of Uganda Technical schols against altering the use of School Properties for personal gains.

The Minister made his remarks on Thursday at Uganda technical College Lira while commissioning the road construction equipments that is entitled to turn the College into a centre of excellence in road conduction and maintenance.

“…the machines, equipments I’m commissioning should only be used to facilitate learning not not carry principles goods to the market…” Muyingo warned.

He however admitted that good work has been done at UTC Lira and called upon parents to play their roles and embrace the idea of early education as a priority to prepare them for tertiary learning.

He so far called upon the governing council to embrace the culture of repair and maintenance and also flag off 203 students ready for practical training in road construction and maintenance where he congratulated them for having taken a choice.

The college principle UTC-Lira, Mr. Jacob Akuuere assured the minister that with the commissioning, the college is ready to take key responsibilities of the machines and call upon the ministry to give clear policies on how the equipments can be used outside school to generate money to help in maintenance.

Meanwhile the Principle of Pura Techchnical Institute, Mr. Okoda Abuka calls upon girls embrace technical education to create gender equality in the sector.

UTC-Lira as a centre of excellence in Road construction is currently skilling in Topographical & land survey, Material and Soil Testing, Road Constructions, Bridge constructions and among other short courses.
