The Kwania District police department is currently investigating a suspected murder case involving the late Akidi Maria, whose remains were discovered on March 30th, 2023.
According to the Nortje Kyoga Police spoke person, Jimmy Patrick Okema, the deceased remains was found in Arcocha Swamp by a group of men who had gone to dig for mud fish. He also noted that earlier on February 6th, 2023, Ogal Jasper had filed a missing person’s report for his mother, an 80-year-old resident of Alami B cells, Kwera Ward, Aduku town council in Kwania District.

Upon receiving the report, police immediately launched an investigation and on March 30th, the discovery of the remains led to the suspected murder case. Statements have been recorded from various witnesses and the remains were confirmed to be that of Akidi Maria through close relatives and a walking stick that was found nearby.
The remains were subsequently handed over to the relatives for a proper burial however no arrests have been made yet.
According to the Police, preliminary findings suggest that the death may be linked to land wrangles. The case is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with any information that may be helpful to come forward and assist with the investigations.
