In Lira, the North Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police, Deo Obura, has called on police officers to rededicate themselves to serving the community effectively.
During the pipping ceremony held in Lira City on Frida 28th July 2023 sees 236 police officers promoted to various ranks.
Commissioner Obura during his speech at the ceremony emphasized the importance of improving supervision and reaching out to the community while serving the nation. He also highlighted the increasing competitiveness within the police force and urged officers not to neglect their responsibilities towards both the community and the institution.
Commissioner Obura further encouraged those who were not promoted to exhibit exemplary discipline, as they could be considered for future promotions.
The Kwania District Inspector of Police, Mugisha Charles, who was promoted from Superintendent of Police to Senior Superintendent of Police, expressed gratitude on behalf of the newly promoted officers.
He pledged to take over the mantle and fulfill all expectations for the betterment of the nation. Mugisha noted that promotions signify the community’s appreciation of their work and add value to their efforts.
The promotions in the North Kyoga region include two Assistant Superintendents of Police being elevated to Senior Superintendents, 19 Assistant Superintendents to Superintendents of Police, 13 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police, and numerous other rank advancements totalling 236 officers.
SP Jimmy Patrick Okema emphasized the need for the promoted officers to behave responsibly and serve as role models in the region to effectively manage crime.
He acknowledged that higher ranks come with challenges, increased responsibilities, and new appointments. Additionally, he encouraged those who were not promoted to remain hopeful and continue working hard, as their dedication may be recognized for future promotions.
