A Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier attached to Kicok Army Detach in Omiya-pa-chwa sub county, Agago district on Monday night shot and killed his wife, accusing her of failing to prepare for him dinner.
Pte. Opwoya Pavio Kwoyelo, aged 55, allegedly shot and killed Alum Anna, aged 45, at around 8pm.
The area LC2 chairperson Chairman Odongpiny Dickens says Opwoya returned to his home, outside the barrack, while drunk and asked to be served food.
However, the deceased replied that the food was not yet ready, something that infuriated Opwonya who suddenly pulled out his gun and shot the lady dead.
Opwonya was immediately arrested by fellow soldiers while Alum’s body was taken to Dr Ambrosoli Memorial hospital Kalongo for postmortem.
Capt. Amos Msamba, the UPDF 5th division Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident, adding that the soldier will be taken to Acol-pii UPDF 5th division barracks in Agago.
Meanwhile, 78 year old man identified as Raymond Owiny, a resident of Luyada village, Wol sub county, Agago district, was Monday found dead in the bush.
According to local authorities, Owiny who was reported drunk, disappeared from home on Sunday after having a misunderstanding with his wife over food. He was later found lying dead in the bush with a rope tied around his neck.
The officer in charge of Wol police post Michael Odur confirmed the incident, adding that they suspect the deceased committed suicide.
