Serving her second term in the health ministry and first term in parliament, Dr Aceng is emphasizing on good works and accountability in Lira City
“What I have done in this city will surely follow me. All the other candidates are just wasting their time. I encourage them to come, the Constitution allows them to stand wherever they want. They are free to come.” Dr Jane Ruth Aceng stated.
However, she is advising the UPC officials not to assume that their success seen in the recent by-elections (Oyam and Dokolo district) would spread across the Lango sub-region, cautioning that elections are about individuals seeking votes.
Minister Acheng also expressed her disappointment on the tendency of politicizing every issue in the community, urging people to separate individual mistakes, community challenges, religious wrangles, and cultural issues from politics.
She stressed the importance of learning from both strengths and weaknesses, highlighting the low number of women in politics despite opportunities created by President Yoweri Museveni.

As part of the Achievements, Dr Aceng also highlighted her efforts in improving access to clean water by drilling boreholes in the community. Over the past year, 11 boreholes have been drilled, with an additional 10 currently underway.
She further detailed her financial support to women’s groups, providing 500,000 shillings per group from her constituency allowance. This she noted, is in addition to government funds through programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Youth Livelihood Fund.
