The Government Chief Whip also the Ajuri Member of Parliament, Denis Hamson Obua, has expressed admiration for the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), acknowledging their remarkable transformation and pivotal role in maintaining peace and security throughout the country.
Speaking at the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC) in Kimaka, Jinja, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, Obua commended the UPDF for evolving into a comprehensive force actively contributing to national development. He specifically highlighted the leadership, including the President of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for fostering the UPDF’s growth based on the principles of duty, integrity, ethics, honour, courage, and loyalty.
Obua, representing Lukia Isanga Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, emphasized the UPDF’s multifaceted contributions to various aspects of national development.
Minister Nakadama, in a message conveyed through Obua, underscored the significance of the cultural gala hosted under the theme: “Harnessing African Unity and Security through Promotion of our Rich Cultural Diversity for a Common Destiny.” Nakadama highlighted that the training provided at the SCSC plays a crucial role in equipping senior officers with essential skills to serve humanity.
The cultural gala, with its focus on African unity and security, aims to empower senior officers with a deeper understanding of cultural dynamics by leveraging both similarities and diversities. The UPDF’s objective is to enhance its capabilities in executing security measures and preserving the well-being of the population.
