Rwanda : A 45-member delegation from the Uganda Police Force, under the leadership of CP Paul Nkore, the East African Police Commissioner, has commenced participation in the 13th East African Community (EAC) field training exercise.
The event, hosted at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, was officially launched yesterday by Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Hon. Marizamunda Juvenal.

Minister Marizamunda commended the EAC partner states for their steadfast commitment to regional cooperation, emphasizing its crucial role in fostering enduring peace. He highlighted the exercise’s significance in promoting mutual learning, sharing experiences, and bolstering interoperability among security forces across the region.
“This exercise is crucial for learning from each other, sharing experiences, and ultimately strengthening regional cooperation,” Minister Marizamunda stated. “It promotes interoperability and enhances our ability to operate in multidimensional ways, thereby deepening and widening our relations.” He said.

The minister underscored the necessity of collective action in confronting security challenges, emphasizing that no single country can tackle them alone. He urged member states to consolidate efforts, asserting that collaborative security efforts would not only fortify regional integration but also pave the way for a prosperous future.
The Ugandan contingent includes distinguished figures such as CP Michael Mugabi, representing Human Resource Development; ACP Lutalo Richard, from Research, Planning, and Development; and SSP Ahumuza Tobias, serving as the Police Contingent Commander for Counter Terrorism. The delegation comprises several senior officers and a team of inspectorates and junior officers, reflecting Uganda’s commitment to enhancing regional security capabilities.
The annual EAC field training exercise aims to bolster the operational readiness of security forces from partner states. This year’s focus on sustainable development and security underscores its pivotal role in advancing regional integration goals.
