The NUP has launched an early and extensive campaign to galvanize support across the nation in anticipation of the upcoming elections. Bobi Wine’s visit to Lira City marked the beginning of these efforts, aimed at unifying opposition parties and advocating for change within the country.
During his address in Lira City, Bobi Wine emphasized the importance of unity among opposition parties, highlighting that the current activities were not campaign-related but rather an assertion of their commitment to bringing about change. He also revealed plans to conduct a series of mobilization tours across the country, coinciding with the opening of new NUP offices, signaling his intention to contest the presidential seat on the party’s ticket.
These mobilization tours commenced on August 28 and will continue until September 13, covering ten different districts. The move is seen as a strategic effort to build a strong political base and garner support in the lead-up to the presidential elections.

Gilbert Oulanya, the Kilak South member of parliament, echoed the call for unity among opposition parties, asserting that it is the most effective way to challenge the long-standing rule of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who has been in power for nearly four decades under the National Resistance Movement. Oulanya emphasized that the “People Power” movement encompasses individuals from all political affiliations who are united in their desire for political change.
As part of his visit to Lira City, Hon. Kyagulanyi officially inaugurated the Lango sub-region office, located in Junior Quarters, Lira City. This move underscores the NUP’s commitment to strengthening its presence across Uganda and solidifying its position in the lead-up to the presidential elections.
