Celebrated events host and TV personality, Edwin Katamba, popularly known as MC Kats, has announced an exciting new initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing the next generation of multi-talented emcees and presenters across Uganda. With his years of experience entertaining audiences and hosting popular shows, Kats is ready to pass on the torch, beginning with an ambitious talent search in Gulu.
“We are looking at making the next biggest emcees per region,” Kats explained. “The reason I came up with this idea is because I have noticed that club MCs, in reality, cannot handle TV. They might be great on stage, but TV requires a different skill set. This search is to find someone who can do both—be an emcee and a presenter as well. In the long run, every district will have someone like me.”
The initiative, which Kats says will kick off in Gulu, will not only be a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities but also a community-centered event with a broader focus on public health. Among the activities planned for the launch are HIV screening and other health-related services, underscoring Kats’ commitment to a holistic approach to community empowerment.
MC Kats’ regional search will equip aspiring emcees and presenters across Uganda with skills through workshops, training, and events, preparing them for both club stages and television platforms.
