Uganda Technical College, UTC Lira has on Friday successfully held its 9th Graduation ceremony where 728 grandaunts graduated in different technical courses courses.
The event ceremony that took place at the institutes main campus in Lira City where hundreds gathered to celebrate their milestones in different disciplines, statistics indicates that only 72 graduanduants are females constituting to 9.9% of the total number of graduanduants.
Among them were students of two academic years 2017/18 and 2018/2019 passing out 72 were females constituting to 9.9% graduating in technical education.
Jacob Akuubere the principle UTC Lira asked the people in Lango Subregion to utilise the institution to educated their children as statistics reveals that only about 20 to 30% of the students are from the region.
Officiated by CPA Owesigye Cosmas the executive secretary Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board congratulated the grandaunts and parents upon the milestones towards their achievements.
Mr Owesigye called upon leaders to advocate for technical education and applauded the 72 female grandaunts for honouring technical education.
He however congratulate the female grandaunts who ventured into technical education calling upon more females to join technical education.

He asked government to engage UTC Lira in road construction contracts since its soon becoming a centre of Excellence in road construction and highway maintenance.
UTC lira with a vision of creating a center of excellence in training Craftsmen, Technicians, Scientists and Engineers offers technical education both National and Higher Diploma in ICT, Architecture, and Water, Electrical, and civil Engineering among other short courses.
The 9th graduation ceremony was attended by various dignities from different parts of the country among which includes, District Representatives, sister UTC schools, Staffs, Technical schools, parents, and continuing students.
