The game concluded in a thrilling two-all draw at Stamford Bridge, securing Arsenal a vital point and preserving their unbeaten streak for the season.
The deceased, identified as Fostine Androdribo from Komendako village in Owayi Parish, Omugo sub county, collapsed at the Galaxy Video Hall in Komendako Trading Centre where he was engrossed in the match. Omugo sub county chairperson, Philliam Jabo, who also happened to be Androdribo’s neighbor, revealed that the fan collapsed after enthusiastically celebrating substitute Leandro Trossard’s 84th-minute equalizer. Despite immediate efforts to seek medical help, Androdribo was pronounced dead upon reaching Omugo Health IV.
William Drabo, the deceased’s brother, disclosed that Androdribo did not have any known medical conditions. He had recently returned from Kampala, where he worked as a security guard, to attend a relative’s funeral just a week prior.
Modesto Acidri, the LCI chairperson of Komendako village, urged residents to prioritize regular medical checkups to prevent similar tragic incidents in the future. “It’s challenging to gauge our health without medical examinations. Let’s embrace routine checkups and seek treatment if needed,” Acidri emphasized.
The family has taken custody of the deceased’s body, declining a post-mortem examination. This incident follows a grim event last month in Sheema District, where another Arsenal supporter named Jackson Aineruhanga was reportedly fatally stabbed by a Manchester United fan after Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over their team.
