In a bid to promote talent and culture within Lira University, five males and four females are set to battle it out in the first edition of Mr. & Miss Lira University pageant on May 20th, 2023 at Ferroz Lounge in Lira City.
The event promises to be a grand affair with different categories of entrance fees ranging from UGX 10,000 for ordinary, UGX 30,000 for VIPs, and UGX 350,000 for corporate people.
Speaking to our snoops, Genevieve Akello, CEO of Genevive Agency, spearheading the contest, says the pageant entitled to develop a positive impact on the university’s public image and talent development. She added that the pageant would also focus on creating awareness about mental health issues in the community.
The contestants underwent a rigorous selection process, which included picking and filling forms, auditions, trainings, and boot camp sessions to prepare them for the grand finale. The winners stand a chance to participate in community outreach programs, such as school visits, to create awareness about mental health issues.
Although this is the first edition of the Mr. & Miss Lira University pageant, Genevieve Akello has confirmed that it will be an annual event and the subsequent editions shall be organized by the university itself.
