UMA postpones the 2022 elections

The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) Electoral Commission Committee postponed the 2022 elections from 23rd May to 6th June.

According to the letter shared on UMA’s socials, the committee postponed the elections following pressure from the public citing that the process of voting was not credible enough to ensure a free and fair election.

In the letter, Geoffrey Ekongot the Chairman for UMA Electoral Commission explained that the elections were pushed forward to streamline the process.

Enkongot added that as an association, they recommend more time for candidates to understand the process.
