Cindy Set to Receive UGX1.3 B from UNMF, Pledges to Strengthen Uganda’s Music Scene

Popular musician Cinderella Sanyu, known affectionately as Cindy, and President of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA), has announced that she will receive 1.3 billion Ugandan shillings from the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), spearheaded by Eddy Kenzo.

Cindy disclosed that after productive discussions with the leadership of UNMF, an agreement was reached for UMA to be allocated the substantial sum to support its activities throughout 2024. She emphasized that this financial injection would play a pivotal role in bolstering various music associations and groups across the nation.

“The money is on its way, and out of the total allocation of 13 billion shillings, UMA will be granted 1.3 billion. This funding will significantly contribute to our efforts in facilitating activities nationwide for the year 2024. This decision was reached following constructive engagements with the UNMF leadership,” Cindy stated.

Expressing her optimism about the collaboration between UMA and UNMF, Cindy highlighted the potential for synergy and collective action in advancing common goals within Uganda’s vibrant music community.

It’s worth noting that Cindy had previously voiced criticism against Eddy Kenzo for establishing the federation. However, her stance seems to have softened, as she now expresses satisfaction with receiving a portion of the funds allocated by UNMF.
