As religious observances come to an end, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema, has issued an Easter message urging the community to stay vigilant against crime.
In his message, Okema congratulated Muslim brothers and sisters who began the month-long Ramadan fast on March 23rd.
He said the religious programs often bring communities together in prayer and gatherings, criminals also take advantage of these periods to commit crimes such as housebreaking, theft, robbery, defilement, assault, and accidents.
He is therefore calling on the community to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or to arrest such persons and hand them over to the authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
“…the emergency call center of 999112 and CCTV camera command centers are under surveillance, with a team ready to respond to any incidents 24/7. The police will also conduct patrols in blackspot areas, and they are very committed to securing the Easter period.” said Okema in a presser.
