Upcoming musician Truth 256 has opened up about a major turning point in his music journey, revealing that fellow Western Uganda music star Ray G advised him to stop singing in English and embrace his native language, Runyakole, for the betterment of his career.
In an interview with a local television station, Truth 256 shared that Ray G not only recognized his potential early on but also guided him during a time when his music struggled to resonate with audiences.
“I was singing mostly in English, but not many people could fully understand my music,” Truth 256 explained. “Friends like Ray G advised me to stop singing in English. That’s when I decided that if I wanted to own the throne, I needed to return to my roots.”
He added that the transition to Runyakole allowed his music to become more relatable and widely appreciated by his fan base. Truth 256 praised Ray G for his mentorship and unwavering belief in his talent, even when others doubted him.
“Ray G was the first person to spot my talent and believed in me when critics fought to put me down,” he added.
Truth 256 is set to stage his maiden concert on April 26th at the Mbarara University Inn, an event that marks a significant milestone in his career. The show is expected to attract a huge crowd, especially from the Western region, where his Runyakole songs have been warmly received.
