Benard Otim, a dedicated lawyer and advocate for community development, is determined on his decision to run for the Maruzi North parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.
Otim, who is a member of the ruling government, National Resistance Movement (NRM), is focused on becoming a bridge between the people of Maruzi North and the government, with a particular emphasis on youth and women.
Otim’s decision to contest is driven by the pressing need for effective representation. He believes that the current leadership has left a significant gap, with the voices of Maruzi North residents not being effectively relayed to Parliament.
“There is a serious leadership gap in Maruzi North, and as a young leader, I am ready to serve as a connection between the old and young, as well as the local community and the government,” says Otim.

Some of his key achievements include organizing youth football tournaments across all sub-counties of Maruzi North, donating wheelchairs to physically challenged individuals, providing scholastic materials for children, repairing boreholes, and lobbying for textbooks for local secondary schools like Maruzi Seed SS and Chegere SS.
He has also been instrumental in securing medical assistance for many in need and supporting community savings and loan groups.
Running under the slogan “Working for the Common Good of Maruzi North people” Otim’s vision is to empower and uplift his constituency.
His message, “Otim Bernard, Atedero, pi Oterdero kede Oterdero me Maruzi North,” resonates with the hopes of many locals who see him as a voice for their needs in Parliament.
