Oyam District is shaken by a shooting and robbery at Berakite cell in Loro Town Council that happened on December 26, 2023, tuesday evening at around 7:50PM.
A statement by the North Kyoga PRO SP Jimmy Patrick Okema indicates that the suspected assailant, dressed in a green military attire, entered Mr. Obote Robert’s hardware shop, demanding money at gunpoint.
Shop attendant Obongo Morris narrowly escaped, prompting the assailant to fire shots into the air as he fled. Tragically, three individuals passing by were injured, identified as Okola Kizito Isaac, Obwol Innocent, and RA 278021 PTE Okello Emmanuel.
The assailant escaped with 65,000= from the shop as the incident was reported by Obote Robert, and the Loro police station is actively investigating the case. A police team led by DPC Oyam visited the crime scene, recovering four cartridges and one live ammunition.
The injured victims were swiftly transported to Atapara hospital for medical attention.
SP Okema commented on the incident, expressing it as “a very unfortunate incident” and suggesting it appears to be a planned robberynoyjng that joint efforts from security forces are underway to apprehend the assailant.
