The Dokolo District Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has raised alarm bells about their inability to effectively perform their duties due to a severe shortage of resources. The concerns were voiced on Monday 16th October 2023 during a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Discipline, shedding light on the hindrances they face in carrying out their vital tasks.

The PAC highlighted their dire need for adequate resources, materials, and tools. They emphasized how the lack of empowerment was significantly hampering their ability to fulfill their duties effectively.
Simon Owiny, the Chairperson of the District Public Accounts Committee, urged for induction training for the committee members to enhance their skills and capabilities. Expressing his dismay, Owiny also addressed the issue of committee members failing to attend meetings when summoned, further hindering their progress.
Adding her voice to the matter, Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament, Cicilia Atim Ogwal, expressed her frustration over the existing gaps within the committee. She pledged to bring this issue before the parliament, ensuring that the concerns of the PAC are heard and acted upon.

During the meeting chaired by Mutembuli Yusuf, MP of Bunyole East constituency and leader of the Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Discipline, the importance of self-discipline and cooperation among district leaders and PAC members was emphasized. Mutembuli urged everyone present to work collaboratively to ensure effective governance within the district.
The district councilors, acknowledging the significance of addressing these issues, expressed their belief that resolving these challenges would have a substantial impact. They highlighted the meeting’s role in helping them understand their roles and responsibilities as councilors.
