The Territorial Police in North West Nile Region and Yumbe district have charged a 24-year-old mother for the shocking murder of her 4-month-old son.
The accused, identified as Nadio Manjubo, reportedly chopped her infant son, Angelo Buga, into pieces on July 19, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m. The incident took place in Chamanikua village, Yayari parish, Lovi sub-county, Yumbe district.
In a gruesome turn of events, after dismembering her child, the mother allegedly stuffed the body parts in a saucepan and proceeded to boil them, claiming she had a desire to consume meat. The horrific act has left the community deeply disturbed and appalled.
Following her arrest, Nadio Manjubo appeared before the Yumbe court on July 21, 2023, where she was remanded to Yumbe prison on charges of murder.
According to the statement by the Uganda police Spoke Person, SCP Fred Enanga, the crime scene was so disturbing and shows how some parents have lost sense of humanity and love for their children.
The statement further urges all parents in challenging domestic settings, to always seek help from the Child and Family Protection Unit, the nearest police station or other child rights defender. Noting that “It is painful that the 4-month-old son, died from the hands of a mother, who was supposed to keep him SAFE.”
