When it comes to music, many people tend to gravitate towards popular artists. They assume that if a song is not being played on the radio or hitting the top charts, then it must not be good.
However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, there are many talented underground musicians out there who are creating incredible music that deserves just as much recognition.
One of the biggest misconceptions about music is that success and popularity equate to quality. While it’s true that some popular artists make great music, it’s not always the case. In fact, many artists who aren’t household names create music that is just as moving, well-crafted, and enjoyable as anything you’ll hear on the radio.
It’s also important to remember that what makes good music is subjective. Everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to music. Just because an artist isn’t mainstream doesn’t mean they’re not making music that is amazing and meaningful to someone else.
There are countless examples of lesser-known artists who are producing high-quality music. Take, for example, Vismon Choice, Hovets, Baki White, Clex B, and many others. Despite not achieving the same level of audience or success as other bands, their music has exceptionally good reviews for their good melodies, touching lyrics, and stunning vocal harmonies.
Or consider musicians like, Stayput, Jaymarphy Atin Ker, Clex B, Vera whose emotionally charged lyrics and beautiful voice have earned them devoted following. While they may not have the same level of radio play as some of their fellows, their music speaks to a wide range of listeners and has deeply resonated with many fans.
Even from Northern Uganda of traditional genres Okeme, Lakubukubu, Gospel, there are artists creating music that is truly innovative and boundary-pushing. Experimental.
None of this is to say that popular artists don`t make good music but there are countless examples of “Underground” musicians who have created incredible, timeless songs that will be beloved for generations. But it’s important to remember that a lack of commercial success doesn’t necessarily equate to a lack of quality.
The most important thing when it comes to music is to keep an open mind and be willing to explore different sounds and genres. By doing so, you’ll open yourself up to a world of incredible music that you may not have otherwise discovered.
