In a recent development, it has been reported that the President of Uganda is set to take action against ministers who are under investigation for the diverted Karamoja iron sheets.
The Minister of ICT and National Guidance Chris Baryomunsi confirmed the news stating that the implicated ministers will face political action once the investigations are concluded.
According to sources, the police have been investigating allegations of diversion of iron sheets meant for Karamoja region for some time now.
It was alleged that some ministers were involved in the diversion of these iron sheets meant for distribution to the people affected by disasters like landslides and floods.
Although there were calls for the ministers under investigation to step aside from their political offices, Minister Baryomunsi clarified that only public servants are required by law to do so. He added that the implicated ministers cannot be forced to step down until the investigation is concluded.
