The Lira City Principal Education Officer, Dr. Abura Jaspher, has pledged his continuous support to Comboni College during the Annual General Meeting of the Comboni Old Student Association (COSA) in Ngetta, Lira City.
He however warned teachers and students who are not serious about their studies that the Ministry of Education will not tolerate such behavior. Dr. Abura also revealed that the Ministry has introduced the use of registration phone gadgets to monitor teachers who dodge lessons.
In response, Herbert Ogwal, the President of COSA, pledged full support from the old boys to the college. He updated the guests about the achievements in the area of renovation of Luwum Dormitory 6, school seminars, among others, despite poor academic results, especially in “A” level.
He also noted the challenges faced by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in taking on some projects to restore the former glory of Comboni College.
The Head Teacher of Comboni College, Mr. Bua John Charles, stated that teaching and learning have been well-administered as they have adequate teachers for all subjects. Strategies like lockdown packages, holiday programs, seminars, and extra lessons were laid down to boost academic achievements in 2021/2022. Mr. Bua also disclosed that 103 UCE candidates and 73 UACE candidates will be presented this year.
Furthermore, Mr. Bua gave a strong caution to the students who risk and take advantage of sneaking out of school to rob people’s properties. He emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Overall, the Annual General Meeting of COSA was a success, with various stakeholders pledging their support to Comboni College. The college administration also assured everyone of their unwavering commitment to providing quality education to the students.
