6 Candidates Successfully Nominated for Omoro By-Election.

Six candidates have been nominated to contest for Omoro the County Constituency seat in Omoro district.

The two-day exercise began on Thursday and ended on Frinday (May 13, 2022) at Omoro District main Hall.

Speaking after the concluded nominations exercises, Moses Kagona, the Omoro district Returning Officer said out of 12 people who picked nominations to contest for the seat, only six dully fulfilled the electoral commission requirements.

Among the six candidates were; Andrew Ojok Oulanyah of National Resistance Movement (NRM), Justine Odong Obiya of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Jimmy Walter Onen (Independent), Simon Toolit Akech of National Unity Platform (NUP), Eng Terence Odonga (Independent) and Oscar Kizza of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).

The elections will take place on May 26, 2022, and candidates have only 10 days to campaign.

The Omoro County seat was declared vacant by Electoral Commission after the death of the area MP and former speaker of Parliament Jacob L’Okori Olanya who passed on in US Seattle where he had been taken for cancer-related treatment.
