In an exclusive interview, Funny Kelvin Klein, a rising star in Northern Uganda’s comedy and entertainment scene, opened up about his journey as a comedian and TikToker, the challenges he faces, and the criticism he has encountered along the way.

Kelvin who is making a name for himself as a versatile content creator who uses platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to share his comedy. While some label him solely as a TikToker, He is quick to clarify. “I never explicitly call myself a comedian, but the name ‘Funny kelvin’ reflects comedy and entertainment. My work speaks for itself across multiple platforms.”

He explained that his comedy varies in style and presentation, making it accessible to a wide audience. However, he acknowledges the difficulty of creating collaborative content due to limited resources in Northern Uganda.

Kelvin has been nominated for the prestigious Northern Uganda Music Awards (2024), but this recognition has also sparked debates. Some critics argue that nominees like Kelvin and Odongo the Odongo Stress Killer are TikTokers rather than comedians.

Addressing this, Kelvin stated, “Such comments hurt because they come from people who don’t support me but want to provoke me into reacting negatively. The organizers of the awards know what they’re doing.”

He urged critics to avoid negativity and support talent instead of creating divisions. “We’re all using platforms like TikTok and Facebook to grow. Let’s focus on the work we create, not labels,” he added.

Kelvin emphasized the importance of unity within the entertainment industry. He maintains good relationships with fellow nominees and collaborators like Odong Stress Killer and Young Emma, with whom he has created content and participated in initiatives to uplift the region’s creative arts.

“Let’s avoid unnecessary battles. Our work should represent who we are, not our words,” he said. Kelvin believes that healthy competition, driven by voters and content quality, is the key to success.

Kelvin’s message to fans is clear: “Support us by voting based on talent and quality, not personal bias. Your encouragement keeps us going.” He also urged upcoming comedians and content creators to focus on creating impactful work that attracts followers organically.

To fellow comedians and entertainers, Kelvin advised against fueling divisions and reminded them to use their platforms responsibly. “We should uplift one another and let our work inspire love and unity.”

As his fan base grows, Kelvin remains committed to his craft, performing at shows and collaborating with other artists. He expressed gratitude for opportunities like the NUMA Awards, which have helped elevate his visibility and credibility in the industry.

“This journey has been about starting from zero and building something meaningful. I’m grateful for everyone who has supported me,” says  Kelvin
