The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has issued a stern warning to Heads of Examination Centres, school directors, and the public, cautioning against involvement with impostors attempting to exploit them financially.
In a statement released on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, Mr. Dan Nokrach Odongo, the Executive Director of UNEB, highlighted instances of fraudsters deceiving head teachers and school directors by promising to improve candidates’ grades or remove schools from suspicion of examination malpractice.
“It has come to the attention of the Board that there are some impostors conning Head teachers and School Directors of money, allegedly to either help them improve the grades of their candidates or remove their schools from the list of those suspected of examination malpractice. UNEB hereby cautions Heads of Examination Centres, school directors, and the public against involvement with such fraudsters,” stated Dan Odongo.
This caution comes as UNEB prepares to release the 2023 results for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
The release of PLE is expected this week, with the First Lady, Janet Museveni, also the Minister of Education and Sports, officiating the event. The PLE results will be unveiled on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 11:00 am, at State House Nakasero.
A total of 749,347 pupils, including 391,558 females and 367,789 males, sat for the PLE in 2023. Following the PLE release, UCE and UACE results are anticipated to follow suit.
