The Dokolo District was shocked by the recent case of murder by Mob, which occurred on April 8th, 2023.
According to reports from the territorial police, Owinyi Innocent, a suspected notorious thief who had escaped from the Dokolo CPS two months ago, was allegedly caught stealing a goat and chicken of Olumu Tom from Oyiregolo village.
He was beaten badly by angry community members and later taken to Kangai police station in critical condition.
Despite being immediately rushed to Kangai health center III by the police officer in charge, OC, Innocent was pronounced dead upon arrival at around 1600 hours.
A case of murder by Mob was registered, and crime scene investigators visited the site, recorded statements, and conducted a postmortem before handing over the body to relatives for burial.
Although no arrests have been made yet, the police are making efforts to apprehend the culprits responsible for the heinous act.
In light of this incident, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the PRO-North Kyoga is once again urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
